With fuel typically representing 25% to 35% of running costs,
it is imperative to manage fuel cost.
Good driving can save up to 30% of fuel per annum when compared to bad driving.
By having visibility of driving style and fuel consumption operators can spot money wasting drivers and advise them how they can improve to save you money. Reducing fuel consumption has the additional benefit of reducing emissions, helping organisations to reach emission reduction targets.
R:COM connects to the engine vehicle management system via the CANbus FMS (Fleet Management System) interface and is approved by all manufacturers.
The R:COM Tracker is able to analyse millions of pieces of data from the vehicle engine management system through the standard CANbus FMS interface. The data available from the engine includes fuel burnt, fuel tank level, vehicle speed, engine rpm, braking, and more. This OEM engine data is extremely accurate and is output from the vehicle many times a second. This data is collected by the R:COM Tracker module, compressed and stored and in a very efficient manner and transmitted back to the R:COM server for analysis and reporting.
No two vehicles are the same. Each vehicle type and model has its own characteristics that determine fuel consumption,
for example, the manufacturer recommended engine rpm green band varies depending on vehicle make and model.
The R:COM Driving Style module enables individual profiles to be created for different vehicle types.
The data from each vehicle is assessed and rated against the profile assigned for that vehicle.
This puts engineers and trainers in control of driving standards in a structured and organised manner.
The profile set-up allows managers to select the parameters to be monitored and assign to each a Green, Yellow, Red (GYR) range,
a mileage scaling factor, and a weighting factor.
The profile-setup enables the manager to score the driver on the following categories fuel consumption, idling, over revving, over speeding, harsh braking and more.
R:COM's unique colour coded reporting system, provides managers an easy way to manage their drivers based on key performance indicators that highlight issues that need to be addressed. It also provides precise information on which aspects of driver performance needs to be dealt with, allow mangers to give timely, pointed feedback.
The analysis is displayed in a simple to read colour coded chart showing where driving performance is leading to excessive fuel usage or unsafe driving. Reports summarise individual driver performance in league tables to give managers all the tools required to achieve cost reduction targets. These levels of simplicity mean that savings can be made from day one.
The unique R:COM Driver Scorecard system has proven to be a very powerful means of behaviour modification and quickly delivers results to your bottom line!. The scorecard highlights the drivers strengths but also the areas that need improvement. Issuing driver scorecards puts pressure on those drivers that need improvement (peer pressure and management pressure).
The importance of the Driver Scorecard is that drivers are being measured and judged based on standardised formulas and metrics, rather than subjectively. The driver scorecards fairly and even-handedly determine whether drivers of their performance, and keep track of potential problems.
